GLACIER Tray

A tray molded from recycled resin, inspired by glacial, transparent terrain

Instead of a vessel with a large contact surface, it features a floating support that allows light transmitted through the resin to project caustic patterns onto the surroundings.
While its form is designed using CG and 3D printing, it embraces unpredictable changes that arise during the process, such as the viscosity of silicone, its fluidity when heated, and air pockets that remain within.
Just as water once liquid transforms into a glacier, recycled resin also takes shape again after being subjected to heat. In this process, instead of controlling everything, we allow nature to take its course and partially delegate, thereby preserving the material's inherent character within the designed form.
What emerges is not the uniformity of mass-produced goods, but a transparency imbued with the fluctuations unique to recycled materials. While being an artificially molded object, it manifests itself like a natural phenomenon.
